Yanawana Herbolarios is a 501(c)3 organization (EIN 460969842) operating primarily in the San Antonio metro community, with a mission to share, preserve, and honor cultural knowledge of the land and make it universally accessible as a means to empower and revive the practice of holistic living, medical botanical usage, water and land stewardship, and coming together as a community in times of need. Yanawana Herbolarios is a woman-led and Indigenous-founded organization. Yanawana Herbolarios was established in January 2016 to meet unaddressed needs in the areas of healthcare and preparedness in the under-served communities of Bexar (and surrounding) Counties, with a special focus on BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. Our current programming includes: The People’s Clinic – accessible integrative healthcare clinics, Sowing la Futura – plant and ancestral skills education, Yanawana Medic Collective – a street medicine team supporting people’s movements and the houseless, and Project Home – sustainable transition campgrounds for the houseless community.


Business Manager

The Business Management Intern responsibilities will range from supervising and managing staff and volunteers to developing the most efficient plans and strategies for business operations. This position is ideal to gain broad experience with leadership, business planning, efficiency, marketing, accounting, fundraising, and non-profit operations. While reporting to directors, the Business Management Intern will work closely with project, grant, and administrative staff to further the goals and mission of Yanawana Herbolarios.


Some example responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement business plans and strategies to promote the attainment of goals
  • Maintain accounts receivable and payables, cash receipts, payroll, general and related subsidiary ledgers, financial reports and tax filings
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax reports for various State and Federal agencies
  • Prepare annual budget, monitor and research monthly and quarterly variances and provide explanations and coordinate plans of correction
  • Assist with grant development and provide financial data for new grant proposals
  • Develop and implement new financial policies and procedures as required to maintain adequate internal controls
  • Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies
  • Create, maintain, and conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extract key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies, including  formal proposals and recommendations on tactics

·         Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations

  • Forecast a financial plan for the company and use resources to meet these requirements through client recruiting and fundraising
  • Report to senior managers and executives about condition of the company through periodical and annual reviews
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, vendors, and suppliers
  • Establish sponsorship relationships with local businesses in furtherance of goals
