Second Chance Cavy Rescue; guinea pig rescue

About

Did you know that socialized guinea pigs come when you call them, like dogs? That they purr when they are content, like cats? And that they love to snooze under your chin (so they make FANTASTIC therapy pets)?! Second Chance Cavy Rescue is a one-of-a-kind, non-profit organization here in San Antonio, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned guinea pigs in South Central Texas. The center is at 1354 Basse Rd, Suite 6, located inside the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Complex, and it has rehomed over 800 piggies since 2012. Steady, reliable volunteers are the backbone of this organization and the Rescue could not exist without them! Volunteers come in once a week for 2-3 hours to help clean/sweep fleece bedding and cages, feed the piggies vegetables and pellets (always starving, so they will tell you!), re-fill water bottles and socialize with them on the “cuddle” couch. The Center needs foster families as well! The Center is open 10-4 pm on all days except Wednesday and Sundays. So volunteers would come in during these times. Think this might be your thing? Please check out their Facebook page, visit www.secondchancecavy.com, or contact Diana directly and leave a message at 210-736-0630 or email at secondchancecavyrescue@gmail.com. And remember, KEEP CALM AND PIGGIE ON! Thank you!
