SOTX Coronavirus (COVID19) Statement
To our athletes, volunteers, families and friends of Special Olympics Texas, we want to update you in regards to the news about the Coronavirus (link to the CDC information page) and the impact to Special Olympics Texas.
Your health and safety are top priority, as well as the health and safety of the Special Olympics Texas community. Please refer to this page of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention website for all tips. If you do not feel well or have been in contact with others who do not feel well, please stay at home. Wash your hands often, use hand sanitizer, avoid high-fives, avoid handshakes, and avoid contact with your face.
Special Olympics Texas is suspending all sport training, competition activities and other activities involving our athletes through June 30, 2020 at which time the situation will be reassessed.
This decision was carefully made after Special Olympics International consulted with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and after reviewing the latest guidance from the World Health Organization.
We will inform you of re-scheduled events once we have dates. Thank you for volunteering with Special Olympics Texas!
The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
