VITA San Antonio

About

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is a collaboration of public and private entities dedicated to family and individual financial self-sufficiency. Other partners, such as local colleges and universities, local financial institutions and other non-profit organizations provide support in a variety of ways to the Coalition. VITA's goal is to increase the financial stability of working individuals and families in San Antonio.

VITA provides free income tax-return preparation to hard working taxpayers earning up to $55,000 annually. VITA helps working families take advantage of all of the tax credits they are eligible for including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and education credits. Volunteers from the community help prepare basic, current year tax returns for eligible taxpayers free of charge.

You are able to volunteer if you are 16 years of age and older. All trainings will be via Zoom and all training material will be provided free of charge.

Thank you all for volunteering! We are excited to have you with us this upcoming Tax Season!
What is the phone number or email to volunteer? I would like to volunteer for vita. — Jolene Rodriguez Jolene Rodriguez on February 20, 2023
If no one contacts you, come out to the St Mary's Univ site on Saturdays where they're very organized. Training however might be closed to new volunteers however there is a self paced course you can take for the online "exam" to be either a basic or advanced preparer. Plus there is need to folks to help with intake such as making file copies :) — David Wiechmann David Wiechmann on March 1, 2023
Hello David, I really appreciate the info you are sharing. Do you know what time to be there on Saturdays at St. Mary's Univ? Also would you happen to know how to access the self paced course? I know I am late into the tax season but I am determined to learn and help! Thank you for any assistance in advance. — Isaac Barrios Isaac Barrios on March 13, 2024
