It was a fun and enjoyable volunteer experience.
I had the valuable experience of working with adults to understand basic concepts in computers that they will be learning more thoroughly in the next months. As most of them were Spanish speakers only, I was able to assist them in their own language. As a result I became more aware of the struggle many parents go through in a world were their children main resources are on technology, something they barely know, and also that despite the advancement of technology there are still parts of the population who don't know the basics of computers. I really admired what this organization is doing for them, because how is a parent going to be able to check if their children are safe on the web, or even help them with homework, etc.I truly liked volunteering here and would do it again.
I enjoyed the time I spent helping out.
I was able to help set up for the event. It was a good experience, it helped me see how much a parents help can influence their child's future. As well as how technology can be a great help and build bridges for better opportunities. I was also transportation for my group of friends and was able to take them to and from the location.
This event was such a great experience, as a bilingual volunteer I was honored to be able to help and guide parents through the process of opening, sending, and creating a gmail account. It was wonderful to see parents come out wanting to learn about today's technology.
Overall I found this foundation a great one. The leaders to the different projects going on today were full of energy. The children that I worked with were great. The way this foundation has grown is a great thing for all the families in need. I was happy to be apart of this volunteer act.
Helped with set-up and working during event to teach the basics of technology to those who do not know and have a language barrier in the community.
Great way to help out families about learning about technology. It was great to work with people of my ethnicity as it made me really comfortable and made me feel good about helping them.
I was assigned to help out the work in the kitchen and helped making hot chocolate for the visiting families. The event was quite interesting to me, because I had never experienced any volunteer activity that interacts with the other families.
