After meeting Doña Deisy, one of our homestay mothers, we quickly found out that she owns a recycling business. We went to a local school to help her recycle for the Kinder Estados Unidos de America Recycling Program. We were able to speak to elementary aged students and have them explain to us how they make use of the products they recycle and how they encourage their families to do so as well. At the end of the day, we helped sort our over 200 lbs of recycling products.
It was my first time attending this event, and I honestly had a fantastic time. I met lots of great people, and I'll most likely sign up again.
Everyone was so kind about having volunteers. I had a great time planting little shrubs and trees around the sections of Waller Creek at UT.
My second time volunteering, I enjoyed meeting peers while saving energy at our campus. The officers are very nice!
