Inside Books Project

This experience was like no other. This volunteer service did more than just bring hope to the inmate asking for books to read, it actually made me feel all good inside. It made it feel worthwhile. Having the opportunity to give those who are restricted of their freedom, freedom to get lost in a book of their interest is extremely heart warming. This was a great experience.

This volunteering activity was very different from the usual events I participate, but nonetheless it was a great way of giving back to the community.

Great interactive volunteer opportunity. People often do not realize what an impact that one book can have when someone has little to nothing of their own.

I got to spend my night helping those who can't help themselves. I also got to do it with one of my good friends. So it was a good night all-around

I spent my hours at the Sunday Night Inside Books session picking out books for current inmates in the Texas jail system. We read their letters, met their book requests and wrote them back before preparing the package to ship. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how unique and worthy of a cause the Inside Books project is. It feels great to know that I hopefully was able to give another human being any kind of pleasure in reading and learning and kind of highlights the worth of reading and continuing to learn on my own. I recommend to anyone wanting a chill, friendly atmosphere and a great sense of having done something really effective.

this still stands as my favorite community service! This is a great help to inmates in prison. Today I sent textbooks to a woman in jail working on her associates degree.

Once I read a letter about an inmate looking for a book on sign language to speak to his newborn deaf nephew I knew I was doing the right thing in volunteering here

This is an AMAZING organization. I tried my best to make sure I gave the person a book to fulfill their needs. It gave me so much insight to the worth of book and literature.
