I worked with a different fifth grader that day and it was interesting because this student was really struggling with fractions. I do have to say that it was a challenge because as a teacher, we not only need to know facts about fractions but also how to teach it to students that can't really connect with the topic. We were only able to finish one problem but it was good because at the end, she was able to visualize that there are fractions that are equivalent to each other.
This was my second time volunteering at Longhorn Halloween with LULAC and it was really awesome to see the way the children were enjoying the activities we had set up with them. At the table, our activity consisted of the children destroying a pyramid made up of monster cups. It is really important that these events exist since it helps to reach out to the Austin community and the children have access of coming to UT and exploring the various events that UT might give.
This was my third year volunteering at Longhorn Halloween but it was my first time volunteering with UT BESO as an officer and it was a blast! It was really fun to see the different children with their costumes and I was even able to meet some of the current students I work with at my placement. We did ghost popsicles and gave out candy to the children. It was fun to see how this event takes place due to the significant impact it bring to these families who may not b able to go trick- o - treating due to work or safety reasons.
I worked with a student that was really interesting due to the fact that he was having problems at the beginning with fractions. He knew like the basic knowledge of sharing to have equal parts but the math aspect of it was a bit difficult for him. We worked on two different problems and what was interesting for me was that many of the students are visual learners and so as a future teachers, I would need to implement a visual strategy that they can use in the future for problems at the test.
I am part of an after school program in where we are helping our fifth graders with fractions. It was really interesting because this was my first time working with fifth graders with the topic of math. This myself helped me as a future teacher because it also opened up my eyes on the strategies I would need to implement in order to better help my students on difficult topics like fractions.

It was a great experience due to the fact that I helped to be the runner between the DACA applicants and the volunteers that were helping fill the DACA.
I was scheduled for the last shift with the organization of BESO and we were tableling near the Sanchez building. We were face painting and it was fun because I got to face paint a lot of different figurines to students.
It was fun exploring a new building today. I have never been to the law school before.
I really liked my experience because it was really calm and really easy to do. I got to explore the business school which was cool because now I know of opportunities that the school offers.
I was one of the students who were registering the ULN members to enter at the community service event. I really had fun but at the same time, I wish I could of participated making the baggies. Since supplies were running low, I went to the store with another fellow ULN mentor so that we could get more supplies.
