I helped out in the Fine Arts Week for the College of Fine Arts. It is a week of of organized events to bring together the different schools of the college from students, deans, and professors, also to show our appreciation for the school. I assisted in picking up orders for the events, talking to professors and students, and cleaning up afterwards. It felt rewarding giving back to my college that gives me so much.

I volunteered for Longhorn School Bus, where each college was assigned 1 or 2 classes to show them a little about what we study and why it is important. I showed the students the importance of the Fine Arts. These kids were 10-11 year-olds and it was so exciting to seem them so eager to go full energy into the theater exercises, art projects, and music demonstrations. I went over the art projects, which were making a mural and paper collages. I tried my best to answer any questions they had about going UT and being a Fine Arts major. This experience revealed to me the importance of connecting with the youths of today and invest in them because they are going to be creating some wonderful things in the future.
The Fine Arts Council had a service event for the whole College of Fine Arts to make PB&J sandwiches to give to homeless. We made about 350 sandwiches. I helped get the supplies, set for the event, made sandwiches, cleaned up, and took the sandwiches and extra bread to Salvation Army.
I was assigned to work in one room for the three panels that went on in there that day. I guarded the doors and searched the room if they were any disturbances during the panel
I worked the registration tables where people who were attending the festival picked up their tickets and badges for the week.

I went to the Concho Community Garden not knowing what to expect. When I got there, it was a smaller fenced in area that needed some work. The beds and pathways of the garden was overgrown with weeds and grass. All we were asked to do was weed out beds. Though it was simple, yet tiring work, you could see the impact that it made to the garden. You were able to see the beauty in the plants that were hidden behind the grass and weeds, and were also able to see the potential beauty in the cleared out beds for the new plants. I really appreciated the experience and plan to do this most Thursdays.
