Helping the Student Health Advisory Committee with the Fall 2016 International Student Immunization Clinic was a wonderful experience! In this multi-day event, I was able to interact with fellow longhorns with their immunizations whether a TB test or a bacterial meningitis injection. I helped clarify instructions and the documents needed for hundreds of students before arriving to the clinic as well as got their questions answered from the University Health Services staff.

Yesterday, I volunteered at Dell Children's Medical Center in the Pharmacy Department. I had a very meaningful experience in that I was able to help open up small saline packages and label them accordingly. I was also able to open 900+ caps for drawing medicine! The Pharmacists and Technicians that I work with are very nice and I am fortunate to work with them in their mission.
Earlier this month, I volunteered at Dell Children's Medical Center in the Pharmacy Department. I had the responsibility of filling up more than 100+ syringes of various medicine, such as steroids. I was able to help open up small saline packages and label them accordingly and open up 100+ 3 ml, 5 ml, and 10 ml syringes as well. The Pharmacists and Technicians that I work with are very nice and I am fortunate to work with them in their mission.
As a continuing volunteer of Dell Children's Medical Center since last semester, I have had the opportunity to continue my service with the Respiratory Screening and Visitation Policy as well as see my new position in the triage emergency department. As the ER department volunteer I helped screen the health of patients, families, and visitors when entering the hospital facility As the ER department volunteer, I stock room supplies, such as bed sheets, towels, paper, patient garb, handle paperwork, as well as talk and comfort some of the patients. Volunteering at this children's hospital gives me the understanding and knowledge of how a hospital actually runs with the cohesion of all the doctors, nurses, faculty, staff, families, and the patients. It has allowed me to continue to delve more into the medical field as well as learn new social and organization skills. Volunteering here gives me the pleasure to help families be in ease during this difficult time in their lives. I will continue to volunteer here throughout my years at UT Austin, to learn and to serve.
